Charities Supported

The Blaby & District Lions Club was a charity and in addition to running community projects we also raised funds for a variety of local, national and international charities and disaster relief funds.

Charity Quiz Nights

For a bit of fun and to raise some money for a good cause, the Blaby & District Lions Club ran a charity quiz night in April and October at the Blaby Social Centre. This was a chance to pit your skills against the best minds in the Blaby District, to win a chocolately prize, marvel at the unusual raffle prizes (!) and know you've helped a local charity.

There was a fish'n'chips supper as well.

Charity Beer Festival

In order to raise funds for local prostate cancer charity PROSTaid, members of the Blaby & District Lions Club, and other local Lions clubs, helped to run a Charity beer festival in Cosby and Blaby. Running for up to 3 days, the festival offered over 40 real ales to try, as well as a range of other drinks. The festival usually attracted over 1000 attendees. In addition to good food and drink, there was live musical entertainment, performed by generous musicians who offered their time voluntarily for this good cause.

In total (over 5 events), over £25,000 was raised for PROSTaid.

Concerts at the Enderby Social Club

As part of our charity fundraising efforts, we organised various events. The Enderby Social Club hosted several concerts where local bands and choirs generously volunteered their time to perform for the community, with proceeds from ticket and raffle sales donated to one of our selected charities.
